A Special Visit

This weekend, we had a visit from a special friend. She is so very special to us, and we rarely get to see her. You see, she lives almost 5 hours away and with our busy, working lives, we have trouble getting together as much as we would like. That is why this weekend was so very special.

Our Aunt Claire came to visit us. She came bearing birthday presents for the baby girl, thirty-one gifts, and hugs for us all. We were able to spend time playing with Baby Kay, have girl time getting pedicures with hot stone massages, and have dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant. We even had time for a little shopping! All in just one short day! It was so nice to just hang out.

Life has gotten so crazy that whenever we are lucky enough to see each other we have to rush around to a wedding, or bridal shower, and we can never just hang out. That is exactly what we did this weekend. We just hung out. I love the time she was able to spend with Kailyn. I am so lucky to have amazing people like Claire to be involved in Kay's life. I am not sure how we ended up living so far apart after living together for close to 5 years at college, but I do know that nothing will ever change our friendship.

I had a great weekend, and we have more plans to hang out in a few weeks. I am more than looking forward to it!

Better Late Then Never

This post is a little delayed, but I have to tell you about the amazing time I had with amazing friends seeing Tim McGraw two weeks ago. Okay, so the post is a lot delayed. What can I say except I am in summer mode!

When you think Tim McGraw, I hope you think... of him touching my hand! You will have to keep reading for details.

Here is the man of the hour... now I have to preface this post by saying these pictures were sent to me from a friend of a friend who was sitting right at the stage. So while I had the MOST amazing seats, this person was feeling Tim's sweat drip on him all night!

It was the hottest day of the decade, and we decided to brave the concert. I am sure glad we did because it was the most fun I have had in a long time.  It felt good to give up mommy duty for a night and let loose. I was able to act like a fool, and I felt like my old self for a little while.

Since it was dangerously hot, we decided to go out for dinner before going to the concert. We went to Seasons 52, and we had a yummy dinner. Then, we tailgated for an hour, and it wasn't so bad with a cold beer and a cold, wet rag to put on your neck! Within two minutes I was a sweaty mess so you will not be seeing any pictures of me on this here blog. When I say sweaty mess, I am not joking. My clothes and hair were soaked. It was  THAT hot.

Luke Bryan opened for Tim, and he was Ahhhh Mazing. Have you ever seen him? He is too cute, and you have to see him in his tight jeans. He definitely got the party started. 

Then I almost died, Tim McGraw came in behind us. After he opened with two of my ALL TIME favorite songs (Something Like That and Where The Green Grass Grows), he walked right past us singing on his way to the stage and ....

HE TOUCHED MY HAND! It was like a shake/embrace.

I almost died. I am not kidding. I thought he was going to pass me by, but he didn't...he reached out and touched me. If I didn't die from that then I could have possibly died from the heat under the pavilion. My friend Ang read that at one point it was 130 degrees under there!

We had amazing seats and an amazing time! We were sweating like crazy, dancing like crazy, and singing like crazy. Let's do it again soon girls! 

Hello there.

Long time, no see. I have been crazy busy, and I haven't had my computer with me for a few days. This past weekend we traveled up to Skaneateles, NY for a friend's beautiful lake wedding.  After a tearful goodbye, we left Baby Kay at home with my mom, and we made the trip up to Syracuse. It was incredibly hard being away from my sweet baby girl, but seeing my friends made it worth it. Daddy and I had a great time.

The wedding was gorgeous. You would NOT even believe how beautiful this bride looked. I only have a few pictures and they aren't the best, but you have to see this dress. It was Ahh-Maze-Ing.

There is something about a bride dressed in a beautiful white dress. Since my own wedding, I have been envious of every bride I see on her wedding day. There is a glow, a radiance that lights up the day. I still get butterflies when I think about how happy I was, and I feel like I am in a secret club with the bride because now she is experiencing the feeling. Oh how I wish I could do our wedding over again. It was a magical, happy day.

This wedding was also a magical day, and I was happy to be there to help celebrate.

It was my first time leaving the baby overnight. Thank goodness for my mom. I knew I didn't have to worry, but it didn't make it easier when I felt a pang in my chest that I wanted to be with her and hold her. We raced home and the car wasn't even in park and I was rushing through the door to see her. Her little smile greeted me, and I knew I was home sweet home.

Playdate

Life wouldn't mean anything without important people to share it with. Along with my loving family, I am lucky enough to have many wonderful friends. People I can turn to for anything. I have old friends that I have known for over a decade that would be by my side in an instant if I needed them. I have new friends that I feel like I have known for a decade, and I know they will be a part of my life for many years to come. I hope the same for my daughter. I hope she meets people that will be such an important part of her life and I hope she cherishes her friendships the same way her mommy does.

Baby Kailyn has already starting building her relationships! She has friends. You met some of her best friends already. Another one of Kay's closest friends is Baby Addie. Baby Addie and Kailyn have been friends far before they joined us in this world. Her mommy and I became close as we journeyed through our pregnancies together.

Baby Addie is one day younger than Kay. If you can believe it, her mommy and I were in the hospital at the same time both experiencing the incredible joy of becoming a mommy.

The girls haven't seen each other in quite some time, and we decided to get together last week for dinner. Now that the girls are bigger and exploring their worlds more, it was so interesting to see them interact with each other.

Of course, my little lady crawls right up to Baby Addie and start trying to grab her face. They were too cute for words. They stared at each other, touched each other, and talked to each other. I hope they continue to grow up together and become best friends.

As you can see, their first meeting needed supervision! Baby Addie is one sweet, happy baby girl and I can't wait to see her again!

Visit With Friends

This weekend, we had such a great time with great friends. My friend Angela (aka superwoman) and her family had my sweet little family over for dinner. When we arrived, the Lloyd sisters met us with hugs at the door. They were so happy to see Baby Kay. Look at these cuties.

The girls took to Dave quickly too! He loved playing with them and watching them together. Daddy is so great with all kids so I am not surprised. I LOVED having our families together. It made me look forward to the future with our kids playing together and growing close. Daddy and I talked the whole way home about how cute the girls were and the funny things they do and say. It made my heart pang for another little girl so Kay will have a sister.

I can see them in a few years ... the three amigos causing trouble. 

It was our first grilling day of the year! It had rained all day, but when we got to the Lloyd's house it was beautiful! Lucky us! Dinner was great and wait until you see the dessert that superwoman made. She amazes me. Seriously. When does she have the time? I don't know, but I sure am glad she did because the cake was frickin' awesome. OMG to die for...go here for a peek at the deliciousness.

Thanks for having us Lloyd family! We love you and we are looking forward to a very special bowling party!

Babysitting

My friend S and I met at work. We quickly became friends, and our friendship grew when we both found out we were pregnant a few weeks apart. We were lucky enough to go through our pregnancies together. We were able to celebrate our showers together. You may remember me getting a gift ready for this lovely day. We were able to go to classes, tours, and stores together. We even finished our registries together! It was helpful and comforting to have someone to talk to about everything.

So after going through all of this, we were blessed enough to go through our births and hospital stays together. Kay and Adonella were born one day apart! The same doctor delivered the babies, and we were across the hall from each other in the hospital! It is a story that is going to be so special to tell the babies as they get older and get to know each other.

Our daughters are already friends. We have been out together a few times, but the babies were really in their car seats. So I was thrilled when I had the chance to watch Addie for a little while! It was Kay and Addie's first true meeting, and it was the cutest thing.

When Addie arrived, she was sleeping like a good girl.

Adonella 

Once she started waking up, I put her in the bouncy seat to keep her happy. She seemed to like it. What do you think?

Kay was sleeping in her swing. I didn't want to disturb her because I was nervous that they would get each other worked up, but our time together turned out to be a hit. Adonella's mom and dad were back in no time, and we let the girls have a play date!

It was so much fun! I hope the girls become close friends. S anytime you need a babysitter...I'm ready!
