Lax Weekend

This weekend was a busy one. After a l-o-n-g week, I kept busy on the weekend, and I hoped it would cheer me up.

Friday night, I realized I really am old at a sweet 16 birthday party. Seriously, when did I get old? The birthday girl's family threw the best party for her and it turned out perfectly! Look at this gorgeous homemade cake!

After the party, I went home to wait for the arrival of my friend! She was on her way to stay over for the weekend so we could go to another friend's lacrosse game. I was so happy to see these girls!

In the blustery winds, we watched some good old college lacrosse, and once again, I felt a little sadness. I love sport, and I miss the days of being part of something bigger than yourself. I see those 20 year olds in the best shape of their lives with 20 best friends, and I feel jealousy. Is that weird? I miss lacrosse, and I miss my days of being a player and coaching at the collegiate level. There really is nothing better.

Baby Kay stayed home because it was a little too cold for her, but she got some action this weekend too.

My future laxer...she is too cute. I had a great weekend with friends and going to dinner. Can't believe it is already over. I miss Lexi, but seeing my girls made me happy for the first time this week.

A Tribute to Lexi

I miss Lexi. I just can't stop thinking of her. All day, I thought about her and how much I miss her. I thought about how I lost my family dog. My amazing dog that was more amazing with my daughter. The best. dog. ever. She was so easy to train and so smart. She was sporty and sweet. She was my first child.

I miss you Lex. XOXO

Heartbroken

Today is a sad day. My sweet little Lexi pup doesn't have to suffer any more, and she is probably already chasing squirrels and catching her frisbee in heaven. She was an incredible dog, and she was my best friend. I am going to miss her terribly. More. than. words. can. say.

We found a mast cell tumor on her hind leg in November, and it was removed over Thanksgiving break. Within a week or two, we noticed a small marble sized lump on her belly. It grew so rapidly that I didn't expect that today would have come so quickly, but the cancer had spread to her lymphnodes. We tried everything to help our sweet girl. We took her to UPenn for chemo and a surgery consult, but she wasn't a candidate for surgery because the cancer had spread. After a month of treatment, we stopped so Lexi could enjoy the rest of her life. She was in pain and she wasn't the same dog. We knew we did not want to see her suffer. After the past few days, it was time. I couldn't bear to see her like that. After numerous cancelled appointments, mainly because I just didn't want to and I couldn't prepare myself, today, I put my sweet girl to rest.

Her absence in the house is depressing and the quietness is alarming. I feel so heartbroken.

I am going to think of you all the time Lex. I love you.

Product of the Week - Kid Toy

This was definitely the product that made my life easier this week! So Sunday, we decided to go out to dinner with friends ... forgetting it was Valentine's weekend. We waited for everything from our table (we had reservations!) straight down to our dessert, and we were there forever! Poor Kay! She was getting rammy to say the least! All I can say is thank goodness for this gadget! We were able to keep the kids occupied with our cellphone apps and youtube videos of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse without worrying about our phones crashing to the floor approximately 5,000 times.

This Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Apptivity Case is a gem. It is hard to use at home because it takes a little effort to put your phone in there, but when you are out and about this is thing is money. My friend, Sabrina, introduced me to this little sucker and I will not go to a restaurant without it again!

Do yourself a favor and get one of these if you have a sweet child that cannot be contained to a high chair for longer than .5 seconds.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day to you!

You won't be seeing any cute pics of my sweetie with a cute Valentine shirt on or any cute Valentine crafts because we are sick. We have been laying and sleeping on the couch all day. Stomach bug. It got us both. My poor sweet baby girl was a wreck today, and did I mention how incredibly difficult it is to take care of a seriously sick child while you are sick yourself. Oh boy!

We are just starting to feel a little better, and I feel bad that I didn't get to make Valentine's Day special for my hubby. I hope he knows I will make it up to him!

At least we were healthy this past weekend to celebrate with an Elmo sweetheart party.

Kay was ready to go! We got to our play date, and there were a lot of kids and a lot of fun to be had. We met up with Addie and her mommy and daddy.

Okay, now we are ready to go. The girls played and had a great time. Look at these cuties.

Kay kept crawling up the slides with no interest of sliding down. She is funny. We even met Elmo... actually it was an imposter ... where is the orange nose? Kay wanted NOTHING to do it. Nothing at all.

Poor thing hated every second of it. But it was such a cute little party for kids. Thanks Ang for telling us about it. I am so happy we did something special before we got hit with this bug.

I hope you all had a wonderful day full of love and happiness! xoxo

Product of the Week - Tech Style

I love Thursdays! I love linking up with Tiffanie and Aly for the weekly installment of product of the week. I love to check out all of the products. I immediately follow it up  by obsessively searching for these products on amazon.

This week, I am kind of boring, but you all need this stuff...
I found this "playdough" look alike last year as a stocking stuffer for my hubby. I proceeded to use it until it was a disgusting, dirty, hairball of goo. It started out as a little sticky compound that can clean anything. I LOVE using it to clean my keyboard on my laptop and in my car! I use it for all of the spots in my car I can't reach. Seriously, this stuff is like $5 and it makes my life happy. I found it at The Container Store, but I am sure you can get it all over.

Another product I am loving... photo cell phone cases! I have been seeing them constantly on pinterest.

All of these gorgeous cell phone covers are courtesy of my friend, Meg. She is one talented photographer, and I am dying for one of these cell phone covers. One of these would definitely brighten my day. You can get them HERE.

Okay, on to check out the rest of the products out there...

It's the Freakin' Weekend ... Baby I'm Bout to Have Me Some Fun

Bounce, Bounce, Bounce, Bounce, Bounce, Bounce. Oh the good old days... you know when R Kelly made songs that you could sing and not think about what a sick, disturbed individual he is. Back in college,  we used to love this song. Back in college, the freedom of the weekend was so refreshing that we usually got into some kind of trouble.

How come weekends don't hold the same relaxing, refreshing, free feeling these days? Is it because I am an adult with grown up responsibilities? I mean... I did laundry, school work, tried to clean, and was able to feed myself when I was in college. I have those "same" responsibilities now so why does it all feel so dreadful and overwhelming?

It is Friday! I am trying to bring the happy, stress free weekend back to my life. I want to spend the weekend enjoying my daughter and not running errands, worrying about having a clean house, cooking and food shopping, and all other domestic things that aren't worth mentioning. I decided to start the weekend off right. Daddy and I took our two favorite girls to the park for a quick play time before dinner.

The weather has been mild enough that we are able to get outside and enjoy ourselves. Kay loved being on the swing as long as she could see Lexi. She loves watching the Lex run and play, it is a tad bit heartbreaking. She's so independent that she was ready to get down and walk all over soon after we started swinging. She can't be confined to a swing...I should have known better.

Once she was down on the ground, she was one happy little girl.

I hope everyone is enjoying the start to their weekend. I hope you are all planning on having a weekend of the past - with spontaneous car rides, laughing sessions until you pee, and laying around in Rutgers sweatpants all day. (oh wait, that might just be me)

Daddy and I are getting all dolled up for a wedding this weekend, so I guess I will have to put my sweatpants away. It's all good though. Enjoy your weekend! I am going to try!

Product of the Week

I'm linking up with Aly & Tiffanie for the product of the week installment!

Now, I run around like a crazy person all day. From the time I get up at 5:45 6:15 (okay, let's be serious here) 6:45, I am on the go until after I finally put my daughter to bed at 7, do lesson plans, pack her bag for the next day, and shower. They seem like long days ... especially when I am a teacher, mediator, hairdresser, nurse, and entertainer to 21 six year olds... and there is nothing worse than looking like you feel after a day like this.

I am OBSESSED with this eyeshadow primer!

I am sorry, but there is nothing worse than having your eye shadow crease, look greasy, and/or disappear after a long day. I love this primer because it creates a matte effect so your eyeshadow looks so smooth and flawless. I have tried quite a few primers and bases, and this is the best by far!

I love love love using it underneath my new... Urban Decay NAKED palette. Thanks a lot ladies. I am directing all questions and complaints from the hubby to you! As an urban decay junkie (YDK .. best color ever) I cannot believe I have gone without this baby for so long.

Happy Hump Day

Happy Hump Day All! We have reached the half way point of the school year! We are officially more than half way there. Oh summer how I can't wait to see you again! It has actually been feeling like summer around here this week. Warm weather and some sunshine....what better than to break out our new radio flyer.

Kay and Addie took the first official ride in our new wagon and they loved it! I can't wait to put them in this wagon with no jackets and hats!
