Changes

Kay has changed so much in the past week! She is starting to do new things, and I love watching her grow. She is 15 weeks old, and she is the sweetest baby in the world.

She has started really exploring her hands lately. She makes a fist, puts it in her mouth, and sucks on her little hand. It is the cutest thing ever. She looks at her hands now...it is like she is thinking "what are these things?" She has really started to grab my fingers and hair. I can't wait for her to reach out for an object and hold it in her hand.

She is talking all the time. She sings and coos to me constantly. She started blowing bubbles and making raspberries with her lips. It is adorable. She leaves a little spit bubble on her lip!

Kailyn has made so much progress during tummy time. She can hold her head up much better in the past two weeks, and she has stopped crying the instant I put her down.

2 weeks ago and I could barely lift my head

Look at me now!

It is a little harder without the pillow, but she tries her hardest! She even kicks her back legs up like she is trying to turn herself over.

Watching Kailyn grow and change has been one of the most unique experiences. These things may seem little, but they show me how my girl is exploring her own little world. I love you sweet girl.

Happy 3 Months!

Happy 3 month old baby girl! This post is bittersweet because I am thrilled that you are 3 months old and developing and growing everyday, but the 3 month mark means one dreadful thing... back to work. I don't even want to get into that just yet so let's celebrate my beautiful baby girl!

At 3 months...

* You just got over being sick. What a terrible time you had with a cold and a cough. You went to your first sick visit at the doctor's office. You wouldn't eat and you wouldn't take pedialyte. I thought about taking you the the Emergency Room because the 24 hour nurse suggested it. I made a "mommy" decision and we stuck it out through the night, and you felt much better the next day.

* Being sick, I am not 100% sure of your weight. You lost a little weight being sick. You weighed 10 pounds 3 ounces at your sick visit a few days ago. Hopefully, we will get back on track with eating and gaining now that you feel better.

* You are still wearing 0-3 month clothing. I am hoping you will soon be moving to 3-6 months, and I am sure you will because a few of your pj's and onsies are seeming a little short. One thing is for sure, you don't fill the clothes out yet.

* You are wearing size 1 diapers. You take between 3-4 ounces at a feeding.

* You amaze me everyday. You recognize faces now! Every time I lay you on the changing pad, you stare up at me and smile. You love to smile at your mommy and daddy! Seriously, my heart grows bigger every time I see your smile.

* You are a happy baby. You love to interact with us now and you love wiggling your arms and legs! You can listen to a toy and follow it with your eyes. You love to be carried around facing the world, and you just look around and take it all in.

* Your range of motion in your neck is MUCH improved...after a lot of work by mommy. You are turning your head both ways now, and your neck is getting stronger and stronger every day. You can hold your head steady when mommy sits you up, and during tummy time, if I set you up, you can hold yourself up for a few seconds. We have come a long way since the two month mark!

* Before you got sick, you were sleeping 8 hours a night. One night you slept 9 and a half hours, but the past few days you slept in mommy and daddy's room. You were up alot during the night because you were coughing and/or starving. Hopefully, we get right back on our schedule just in time for back to work.

Overall, you are happy and playful. I love seeing the changes in you as I write these posts. You are the sweetest, most lovable little girl. Your fussy time at night has seemed to have subsided, and now you explore your world instead. I can't wait to see how much development another month brings!

Sick

It happened. We are sick here in our house. Dobbie and mommy are tired and have sore throats, but more importantly, our baby girl is sick. It started out as a little runny nose on Saturday and has progressed ever since. Today, she has a horrible cold with a terrible cough.

We went from runny nose to stuffy nose to irritating cough and chest cold. Baby Kay isn't eating and she sounds horrible. She has coughing fits so bad that she gags and chokes. This morning we called the doctor to make sure we got her an appointment today before the snow came. My poor baby girl. Man, it sure breaks your heart! I wish there was something I could do to make her feel better.  I would do anything to make her comfortable.

The doctor just recommended Pedialyte, saline spray for her nose, and lots of TLC. The last part is no problem for me!

I LOVE our pediatrician. We go to a very large practice, and I called to schedule an appointment today. This Dr. made sure we were able to see her, and she squeezed us in at the end of her day! She gave us good advice and gave us things to watch out for. She was even impressed by Kay's neck strength and range of motion, and she complimented me!

So we cancelled plans for the next few days and we are just going to rest and relax. Hopefully, we will be snowed in! This baby girl is so sweet and special. Even when she is sick, she still manages to give me a heart warming smile.

Play Time

Now that our little Kay is getting bigger, we can have play time! She is interacting with us more and more. I love playing with her, and she even has a favorite toy. It is a black and white panda bear that plays music. She gets happy when she hears and sees it. She will even turn her head to follow it from side to side!

You can tell where I am moving the bear as you watch her! Can you believe how much she has changed! She is growing and becoming more aware every day!

Busy Week

I can't believe it has almost been a week since my last post! We had a very busy week, but it was filled with hanging out with family and friends. As my maternity leave winds down, I am trying to enjoy my last few days. We had dinner with friends two nights this week and dinner with family two nights this week. Needless to say, blogging during the day is not feasible because I am taking care of the bambino. It is hard work!

The baby is continuing to amaze me everyday. Just last night, she slept 9 and a half hours straight (at 12 weeks old!). I don't know much, but I think that is AWESOME! I hope she keeps it up. She is actually a good sleeper. When I put her down in her crib, it is like she knows it is bed time. She usually doesn't cry (even if she can't fall asleep right away) and if she does, it is just for a minute or two. I can put her down when she is wide awake too.

Her neck is getting stronger everyday, but we are calling her zoolander because she only tends to turn her head one way. It is a little extreme, and I just cannot bring myself to force her neck the opposite way to stretch it (doctors orders) because she will give me a scream that pierces through my chest. She fights it too! I am not going to worry about it though because it is not like she will walk through life with a kinked, crooked neck...right?!?  Oh, and this little flat head syndrome is giving me anxiety. The joys of being a new mom...I know it will be fine in the end but still!

Kay is starting to recognize us! It is the most amazing feeling in the world to lay her on the changing pad in the morning and watch her look at me and smile! She is really starting to interact with us. I love this little girl more than anything in the world.

Today is Saturday and I woke up to snow! But, it isn't going to be a lazy snow day for me. It is a BIG day in our family. I am getting ready to celebrate.

Happy Birthday to our Aunt TC! We love you so much! Thank you for being a special part of our lives.

And Happy 4th Birthday to a special little girl! Love you to pieces!!!!

A girl after my own heart with her Kool-aid lips!
And Happy Birthday to a very special Mom-Mom tomorrow! We love you and are so thankful for everything you do for us!

One of the firsts of a lifetime of holding and loving her granddaughter!

Babysitting

My friend S and I met at work. We quickly became friends, and our friendship grew when we both found out we were pregnant a few weeks apart. We were lucky enough to go through our pregnancies together. We were able to celebrate our showers together. You may remember me getting a gift ready for this lovely day. We were able to go to classes, tours, and stores together. We even finished our registries together! It was helpful and comforting to have someone to talk to about everything.

So after going through all of this, we were blessed enough to go through our births and hospital stays together. Kay and Adonella were born one day apart! The same doctor delivered the babies, and we were across the hall from each other in the hospital! It is a story that is going to be so special to tell the babies as they get older and get to know each other.

Our daughters are already friends. We have been out together a few times, but the babies were really in their car seats. So I was thrilled when I had the chance to watch Addie for a little while! It was Kay and Addie's first true meeting, and it was the cutest thing.

When Addie arrived, she was sleeping like a good girl.

Adonella
Once she started waking up, I put her in the bouncy seat to keep her happy. She seemed to like it. What do you think?

Kay was sleeping in her swing. I didn't want to disturb her because I was nervous that they would get each other worked up, but our time together turned out to be a hit. Adonella's mom and dad were back in no time, and we let the girls have a play date!

It was so much fun! I hope the girls become close friends. S anytime you need a babysitter...I'm ready!
